If mania is height
vertical dizz
then the worker bee
hexagonal hospitalier filters
for fear of drosophila

and dropsying like vinegar flies
love full on some hermound
crest of bird
and I as fool hermes

descend from mountainship
covered in pollen
a vegetal sap-crescendo
my feather stamp and squawk

my arms and legs to walk
my mouth found to talk
honeydripper
drench clothes in
stale eaten solipsism

of ionic dreamt-only sun
and on a work wake shake
mixed with rest and quilled
Savanarola ink

cold wrapped in nitrous cut
remound the heart ware
that fixity and plotting have
limited the times of each of our times

my days are now more like shift
and less desert she cramp
dehydrated monster on relay to delay
each head of the flower of year hour

regales soft lipped storm
and step breath step paucity of cats
fur…of gnosis and non-gnosis
as a cats yawn belies

amount of matter and presence
in weight, sweetness of arms
loose light of dressings
release from holds and gauze
clamp – solutions and reassembled
scissions – thanks to

shifted and reshifted days.
where the memory of day reflects in afternoon
and night allows golden moon to eat away
at the last lives in me.

One response to “Getting discharged from a lucid hospital stay”

I like how this poem sounds with all its swingy rolled-it and fold-it rhythms. A few things mystified me in the first two verses but it all sort of made sense to this non poet. The hospital stay was useful? boring? clarifying? on the whole? I didn't get much about the mood really.Dear old Repat – it must be rather old and mouldy by this time unless they've really spruced it up!
