The clouds as nests

disperse and stretch leewards

across terrain anticipating shadow

sheets of shades across streets

a flash of dark

for a second and a degree celsius less

mask and veil for the sun

by season saving or savaging us

across autumn anticipating winter

the clouds as temporal forestry

white grey and black

red when the dust’s released off earth’s back

plotted and planed on axes

the remains of a weather balloon

found, silver in a field

a crumpled sash to the bends

of horizon hip and waist

sent sparse from spheres and grass

yes this one looks like a dog

go there and pat it

– it jumps on you!
